The tax applies to the total gross receipts, including any property taxes that are part of a lease or rental agreement. Conn. Gen. Stat. §12-412(34) allows a full exemption on the purchase, lease or rental of qualifying machinery. The full exemption is available only to manufacturers operating in a manufacturing plant.
